Introduction
The lodge was a fixture in northwest Portland for many years and drew its membership primarily from the Swedish immigrant community in the early part of the 20th century. The membership applications are a spring board to information in addition to name, there is also the date and place of birth, the year of immigration, the occupation and residence. Svenska Bröderna was the original name of the organization which later was changed to Svenska sällskapet Linnea when women were admitted to membership. SRIO has scanned early membership applications and they are available in SWEAME data base. Swedish Society Linnea continues to be an active organization.
