Emilia (Emely) Charlotta Weilandt was born in Allerum, Skåne, Sweden on December 28, 1874. Her parents were Per and Botilla Weilandt. Her father was a crofter (torpare). Emilia immigrated to North America in April 1891 at the age of 16. The Portland, Oregon city directory lists her as working as a housekeeper in 1897 where she went by the name of Emily Weiland. While in Portland she became a member of the Swedish Society Linnea. The marriage records for First Immanuel Lutheran Church show she was married to John E. Nordling, a longshoreman living in Portland, on June 10, 1899. Family records indicate little information about Nordling and suggest he died a few years later. Emely, then a widow, returned to Allerum and married Edvard Nilsson on February 21, 1903. They had a daughter, Edit Maria Valborg in 1906. Edvard Nilsson died in August, 1952, and Emely died a few months later on October 20 in Helsingborg, Sweden.
