Svenson, John, Bookseller —Astoria— born in Lysvik, Värmland on October 4, 1865. He traveled to America in the spring of 1888 and settled in Astoria, Oregon as a shopkeeper.
He owns a well stocked and often used bookstore there and for a few years (1906-07) he also owned a bookstore in Seattle. For three years he has been a member of the city council in Astoria and also held other positions of trust. He has been the secretary for Modern Woodmen for twelve years besides being a member of United Swedish-American Brotherhood, Knights of Pythias for more than 15 years, the singer organization Manhem and the Swedish Lutheran Church. Married since 1895 to Hanna Leback and has a son and a daughter.
