Pearson, C. F., painter – Portland – born in Vallarum, Malmöhus County, on February 14, 1844. He traveled to America in 1886, and took up residence, for two years, in St. Paul, Minnesota. Then he moved to Litchfield, Minnesota, and worked there as a painting contractor until 1872, when he moved to Portland, Oregon. He was employed as head painter for seven years at O. R. & Navigation Co., after which he opened his own painting business. He has received many important contracts and painted several of Portland’s largest buildings. During his time in Minnesota he became involved in politics and, for two years respectively, served as Director of Education, School Clerk, and Assessor. He was the President and one of the trustees for the company Nehalem Coal Co. There were two other Swedish trustees and owners in the company, B. Söderlund and John Nordström. He was elected to President in Scandinavian Republican Club in 1888. He is a Freemason, member of Ancient Order of United Workmen, and one of the founders of Svenska Bröderna, which has become Linnea today. He has also been elected president of Linnea, and held some important positions for more than 21 years. His last positions were as chairman and trustee for the organization. He is a member of the Presbyterian Church. He owns his own home located at 615 Marshall St. where he has lived since 1903. He married Elisabeth Anderson from Brunslöf, Skåne, in November of 1903. They have three daughters and one son.
