Crawford, L.A., maker of surgical instruments — Portland — born in Kumla, Närke, February 6, 1862. At age 16 he moved to the province of Uppland to become a blacksmith. In 1882 he moved to Stockholm where he learned his current profession from Stille. In 1885 he received a travel grant from the Royal Swedish Board of Trade. In 1886 he left for Chicago and in 1898 moved to Detroit, Michigan. Since 1905 he has made Portland his home. Together with J.K.E. Karlson he manufactures surgical instruments on 333 Burnside St. Crawford owns his own home on 765 E. Flanders St. He is a member of the Linnea Society and the Independent Order of Odd Fellows. In 1888 he married Emma Sofia Peterson from Kumla and they have a son and a daughter.
