Henry August Granat

Henry August Granat was born in 1903 in the village of Hökult, Älvsborg län, not far from Lake
Vänern in the southwestern portion of Sweden. Today this area is known as Västra Götaland.
Henry was 23 years old when he sailed from Göteborg to New York Harbor in 1926. His
destination was Cove Orchard, near Yamhill, Oregon, where his sister had settled with her
husband in 1919. Henry’s stop in Cove Orchard would be a step along the way to the rest of his
life in Burns, Oregon.
