Sigglin, Charles O., Real estate agent – Portland –
born on December 2, 1858, in Klintehamn, Gotland. He moved to America in the
spring of 1878 and took up residence in Frankfort, Michigan where he worked as a
logger for eight years. He then spent time in the hotel business in St. Paul,
Minnesota, until February 1888, when he moved to Portland, Oregon. Until 1903
he ran his own saloon business at Glisan & 6th St., when he started
in the real estate business with J. N. James. The company has its office at
141˝ 1st, on the corner of Alder St. Mr. Sigglin is one of the board
directors of the Scandinavian American Bank, and has been the treasurer for the
organization Knights of Phytias for many years. He was one of the founders of
the organization Svenska Bröderna and was its first secretary of
finance. He has extensive real estate holdings and owns a home on 581 Lovejoy
St. He married Sofia Anderson from Detroit, Michigan, in 1889, and they have
had two sons and one daughter. One son graduated from the University of Oregon
in 1908, and the daughter is currently studying in Portland. One son, born in
1892, died at the age of two.
