Carlson, August, businessman — Portland — born in Stafnäs parish, Värmland, May 9, 1849. Emigrated to Nevada 1875. Had three farms until 1883, when he went on a long journey. Lived in Medford, Oregon, 1885-8. Following that he owned East Portland Fence Works until 1909. He currently owns a cigar store on 305 E. Morrison St. In 1889 he married Nellie Benson from Skåne; they have two sons.
